Years ago, in a time of peace, Chamgyoyug had been a revered teacher, beloved by all. But a betrayal by those he trusted had cast him into the shadows, a revenant scholar, cursed by the very world he once sought to protect.

The story begins with Chamgyoyug, now a lone wanderer, coming across a small, beleaguered village under siege by marauders. The villagers, weary and desperate, turn to the scholar for help. But Chamgyoyug's redemption is far from simple; his curse binds him to a life of suffering, and any aid he offers comes at a great personal cost.

The villagers, though grateful, grow weary of Chamgyoyug's condition, and whispers of treachery begin to spread. Among the villagers is a young girl, Eunha, whose parents were killed by the marauders. Eunha, with her fiery spirit and unyielding resolve, finds herself drawn to the scholar, seeing in him a glimmer of hope amidst the despair.

As the siege continues, Chamgyoyug's abilities are tested to the utmost. His knowledge of ancient lore and combat skills are put to use, yet each battle leaves him more drained, more cursed. The villagers, seeing his suffering, begin to doubt his motives, and tensions rise.
