Biography of Matthew Gullion
Matthew Gullion is the Director of Missions (DOM) for the Northeastern Indiana Baptist Association (NEIBA). NEIBA is an association of Southern Baptist Churches in and around the northeastern corner of the state of Indiana. His focus is to strengthen local churches, encourage and promote the Great Commission, Church Planting, Church Multiplication, Leadership Training, and Local/International Missions. NEIBA has been leading the way in this area now since 1963.
Matthew has served in this Association bringing mission teams and preaching revivals since 2004. In November 2012 the Executive Board of NEIBA voted unanimously to call Matthew as their new Director of Missions. In April of 2013, Matthew became their DOM. Since coming on board with NEIBA our churches have grown spiritually and numerically. We have seen thousands of volunteer missionaries come from all over the USA to partner with our churches to strengthen them in the work that they are doing. In 2014 Matthew began the pursuit of bringing the Billy Graham Association to our region with an invitation to Will Graham to lead the Greater Fort Wayne Celebration. On October 6-8, 2017 his dream came to pass as this region gathered to see a harvest of souls for the kingdom! Matthew had the privilege of serving on the leadership team with the local Celebration Team as one of the Two Co-Leaders!
Matthew has served in many capacities such as founder and CEO of REACH (a drug rehabilitation ministry), held offices with the Kentucky Baptist Convention, pastored churches in Kentucky, served as campus minister of a Community College, and served on countless boards and committees. Matthew has preached hundreds of revivals, spoken at conferences, conventions, and led mission trips and training events all over the United States and in many other countries. He has led mission trips from Africa to small town US and everywhere in between. He has led teams to many locations throughout the United States and around the world.
Matthew has served as a church planter and a bi-vocational pastor at the Harvest Baptist Church in Warsaw, KY. This church was founded from ground up through his leadership. The church began with several families and nothing but faith that the Lord would provide. The Lord blessed Harvest Baptist Church with a location rent free, then later a new location and renovation project as well as countless ministries opportunities. Through this process, Matthew has developed a passion for assisting smaller churches and church planters.
Matthew also served as the pastor of Salyersville First Baptist Church for 14 years and under his leadership, they saw 300+ souls saved and baptized, great growth, a new 37,000+ square foot building and many new ministries started. Matthew led the church to be on mission to go as well as bringing 800 – 1200 missionaries into the area each year to impact that small rural area. Matthew has had the opportunity to be on a continual TV and Radio ministry for several years as pastor.
Matthew has been raised in and around the ministry. His father and both grandfathers were pastors in Kentucky and Indiana. His father and mother served for 5 years in Niger Republic of Africa missionaries. He has seen faithfulness to the Lord exemplified in the lives of those who have poured themselves into him.
Matthew has spoken in hundreds of revivals, conferences, conventions, motivational speaking, business events, school events, staff meetings, Kentucky State Capitol, Regional drug awareness rallies, prison ministries, Kentucky Raceway Ministries, and much more.
Matthew has attended Boyce Bible College, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Andersonville Baptist Theological Seminary. Matthew is actively pursuing his Doctorate of Pastoral Leadership.
Matthew is married to Ruth Jones Gullion who was a pastor’s daughter, former school teacher and now Administrative Assistant for NEIBA. They have three daughters Addison, Abigayle and Elisabeth. They enjoy life to the fullest and enjoy serving alongside Matthew in ministry and mission opportunities. Matthew values his family time and realizes the importance of a strong home and family.
